As the new academic year 2012 -2013 is around the corner, Al Jamia Al Islamiya has announced the appointment of Abdullah Manham as its new Rector. He assumed his duties on 9 May 2012. Mr. Manham is widely known for his linguistic expertise and long experience abroad. His college education was at Islahiya College, Chennamangallur, near Calicut. Then he moved to Saudi Arabia where he graduated at the University of Umm Al-Qura in Mecca, with honors in 1983 and worked at the Japanese Embassy in Saudi Arabia (Senior Assistant for Cultural Affairs) for nearly 25 years. He returned to India in 2007 and worked as Public Relations Officer at Hira Center, Calicut. He was Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation (FOLT), before taking over as Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance (FIEF) at Al Jamia in 2011. On this occasion, the Board of Directors of Al Jamia held a meeting attended by Sheikh Arif Ali, Kerala State President of JIH, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Ibrahim, Vice President of JIHK and all members of the faculty and other university staff. In his remarks, Manham noted the solemn services made by the former rector of Al Jamia for the development of the university and gave him thanks and appreciation, and prayed to the Almighty to grant him the best reward in the Hereafter. We ask God Almighty to grant success to the new rector to carry out his mission in the best manner possible so that this university will catch up with other universities and achieve leadership in its field. |
