Al Jamia Al Islamiya
Welcome to Al Jamia Al Islamiya
Al Jamia Al Islamia is a pioneering charitable institution of higher education that has earned an iconic status in the most literate state in India, namely Kerala. Situated in the state of Kerala that lies to the south of India, it was set up by the Islamic Movement in 1955 as a bold attempt to educate the Muslim society at a time when Muslims were rather uninitiated to the sphere of education and a pressing need was felt that something should have been immediately done about the desperate condition of the community. The ultimate aim behind the establishment of an Islamic institution in the midst of non-Muslim society was the renovation of the Muslim society and the propagation of Islam among the Indian communities. A number of schools, colleges and other institutions are currently run under its administration. It intends to groom a new generation of youth, conscious of their responsibilities both to Islam and society at large.
So far 35 batches of scholars have graduated from this celebrated institution. With the Grace of Allah they are rendering their services in Islamic propagation both in India and abroad. Aimed at bringing out outstanding scholars, talented journalists and eloquent speakers, a Faculty/College of Comparative Religious Studies was established in 1990. So far 14 batches of students have graduated from this institution and they are making tireless efforts to spread the message of Islam and contribute to the Islamic resurgence in India. In 1993 the Faculty of Islamic Studies was started to produce scholars fit enough to give guidance to the Islamic society in terms of thought and practice.
In 2000 the leadership of the Islamic movement decided to upgrade these institutions and to extend the range of its services by establishing an Islamic University comprising the above mentioned colleges and some new faculties such as Faculty of Islamic Jurisprudence, Faculty for Quranic Studies, Hadith Faculty, Imam Kathib Training Institute, Institution for Memorization of the Quran, Faculty of Arabic Literature, Teachers Training Institute, Research Centre and Centre for Information Technology.
With the grace of Allah, the Inauguration was accomplished at the hands of the eminent scholar Dr. Yousuful Qardhawi in 2003 in the presence of a galaxy of national and international dignitaries.
